1869 – Pierre Adolph Grisel (1869-1959), French paediatric ENT surgeon; described Grisel syndrome (1930)
Deaths
1814– Gaspard Vieusseux (1746-1814), Swiss physician; described Vieusseux–Wallenberg Syndrome (1807) and the first recognition of epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis in Europe (1805)
1862 – Sir Benjamin Collins Brodie (1783-1862), English surgeon; described the Brodie–Trendelenburg Test (1846), Brodie’s Abscess (1832), and Brodie’s Knee (1813)
