1873 – Robert Bayley Osgood (1873–1956), American orthopedic surgeon; described Osgood-Schlatter disease (1903)
1924 – William Francis ‘Fran’ Ganong Jr. (1924-2007), American endocrinologist and physiologist; described Lown–Ganong–Levine syndrome (1952). Sole author of his ‘Review of Medical Physiology‘ textbook for 40 years – the first 22 editions.
1927 – Enno Kleihauer (1927–2017), German paediatrician and haematologist; described Kleihauer–Betke Test (1957).

1882 – Nikolaus Friedreich (1825-1882), German neurologist and pathologist; describedc myriad eponymous diseases including Friedreich-Auerbach disease (1863), Friedreich’s ataxia (1877), Friedreich’s disease (1881), and Friedrich-Erb-Arnold syndrome
1904 – John Birkett (1815-1904), English general surgeon. Provided first description of Pipkin femoral head fracture (1869). Designed the Birkett forceps; Birkett artery forceps; and Birkett haemostatic forceps
